My journalistic career began in 2007, following successful appearances on Food Network. From there, I secured staff and freelance positions with multiple high-profile San Diego-based publications before adding regional and national outlets to my résumé. At one point, I simultaneously contributed food, beverage, restaurant, lifestyle and travel pieces to as many as a dozen publications. While I continue to contribute to many of those magazines and websites (click here for a full list), I primarily focus my energies on my daily reporting and travel pieces for my business, San Diego Beer News, and brewing-industry pieces for the San Diego Union-Tribune, as well as monthly dining reviews, food, beverage and travel contributions to luxury publication Ranch & Coast Magazine. Additionally, I am the host of the The Indie Beer Show podcast, and serve as a monthly on-air craft-beer correspondent for FOX 5 San Diego Morning News while also appearing as an expert in that niche area for other television networks, radio stations and podcasts.
Over my career, I have won multiple awards for articles spanning an array of topics, but craft beer, the brewing industry and the world’s beer- and beverage-centric destinations are my primary areas of expertise. In addition to understanding the world’s beer styles, the brewing process and the ins and outs of the beverage industry, I have nearly a decade of experience working for breweries, during which I collaborated with industry professionals through trade and governmental organizations.
I welcome press-trip and event invitations, beer-review samples, public-relations outreach, news items and tips via email, and welcome you to follow me via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. For more information on my background, please consult my LinkedIn profile.
